Role description

You want to be part of a unique journey? USNC Power and Global First Power are looking for junior engineers or engineering interns to join their ranks. You will be given the chance to support senior and engineering staff in the timely delivery of projects for the MMR™ design. A brilliant opportunity to gain key engineering experience.

It is a remote position at first, with eventual office location in Ottawa, ON.

The Junior Engineer / Engineering Intern (EIT) will learn from the Engineering Manager and the appropriate Senior Engineer (discipline dependent) at USNC Power – civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.

Your responsibilities will mainly include:

  • Support engineering design projects from conceptual design stage through construction and commissioning.
  • Prepare pre-conceptual / conceptual engineering drawings (e.g., 2D/3D layouts, electrical / I&C block diagrams, general arrangements)
  • Take part in and support specification and review of detailed engineering drawings (e.g., structural details, wiring diagrams, equipment details)
  • Take part in and support specification and review of other technical and engineering design documents (e.g., structural / geotechnical analyses, I/O and load lists, mechanical equipment lists)
  • Prepare for review drawing lists, engineering documents, specifications, and inspection and testing plans/procedures

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will:

  • have 0-2 years’ experience in a field related to their discipline (civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering)
  • be a recent graduate from a recognized university engineering program preferably a member of the PEO’s Engineering Intern (EIT) program or eligible to join.
  • be familiar with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD)
