We are supporting our partner – Moltex Energy – in seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their growing team in their efforts to contribute and respond to the world’s critical necessity of clean energy. They have the technology to transform the energy landscape, ushering in a new age of clean, low-cost energy for all.

As a Laboratory Technician you will be a member of the team developing the laboratory capabilities in support of Moltex’s Stable Salt Reactor (SSR) and Waste To Stable Salt (WATSS) recycling technologies. The role offers a mix of practical laboratory experimental work and administration, but is predominately lab-based. The successful candidate will work closely with other technical disciplines and be part of an agile, multidisciplinary team. This job requires effective working relationships with laboratory users, including chemists, engineers, materials scientists and rig designers.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Operating analytical equipment for inspection of samples
  • Producing salt and corrosion testing samples as directed by relevant technical leads
  • Gathering data and delivering it to relevant technical leads
  • Operating laboratory rigs
  • General laboratory maintenance and upkeep
  • Maximising equipment availability via maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Providing regular progress reports on activities to the Lead Chemist and wider technical and leadership teams

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • A-level or BSc in STEM subject or equivalent work experience
  • Practical laboratory (or equivalent controlled environment) experience, including experience planning and executing work as directed by technical staff
  • Understanding of safe working practices in a controlled environment
