Mechanical Engineer – Orano

We are looking for Mechanical Engineers to be part of multiple nuclear projects across the UK for our client Orano.

Orano has an established footprint in the United Kingdom built on over 40 years’ experience in the UK nuclear sector. Delivering the full range of its nuclear fuel cycle capability across the British Isles, Orano has provided and continues to deliver services relating to uranium, used fuel management and recycling, nuclear logistics, engineering and nuclear site dismantling. Role description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join their engineering team in delivering technical studies on projects or bids.   • Deliver Technical studies related to mechanical handling for both handling operations and heavy mechanical transfer systems, powder mechanical processes, compaction and mechanical dismantling technologies.
  • Design of mechanical processes, from strategic and conceptual phases to detailed design and construction & commissioning. Typical deliverables will be issued: technical note, substantiation notes, mechanical flow diagrams and flow-sheets, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical layout drawings, hazards and malfunctions management, technical specification documentation review from supply chain
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant degree,
  • Experience of mechanical studies delivery considering manufacture, testing, construction commissioning, operation, maintenance recovery and decommissioning aspects
  • Experience of engineering design (development, FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review from supply chain) in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors
  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Ability to understand complex issues and deliver solutions
  • Experience of delivering projects for UK Nuclear sites
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
