Would you like to have a key role supporting business objectives to drive progress on a significant project of national importance that will make a positive difference to future generations?

Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) is responsible for delivering one of the UK’s largest and most complex environmental infrastructure projects.

RWM’s vision is to create a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment.

RWM’s mission is to deliver a Geological Disposal Facility and provide radioactive waste management solutions. As a wholly owned subsidiary of the NDA, RWM’s programmes of work deliver Government Policy, and NDA Strategy, for radioactive waste management.

Role description

What will you be doing?

Primarily, you will be working on projects within a fast paced and demanding environment. There’s a heavy focus upon problems, formulating, developing and delivering solutions.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • You will advise and support the Director and Senior Leadership Team so your ability to influence and communicate effectively is key;
  • You will lead on key Directorate projects ensuring the mitigation of any risk to RWM;
  • You will engage heavily with Stakeholders, representing Directors across all internal and external communities.

Essential skills

These roles would suit experience gained within a business setting and ideally highly regulated, process environments similar to that of the civil nuclear sector.

Rate/Salary

Aside from the opportunity to be part of such an exciting and first-of-a-kind project, this is also an excellent career opportunity and much of the work you will undertake in support of business objectives will be task and project related, as part of a dynamic team.

You won’t stand still in your career. Whilst you will be allocated to a specific Directorate/ Senior Leadership Team to lead on Directorate level projects, and other strategic activity, you will also have the opportunity to rotate across Directorates to broaden your knowledge and experience.

RWM is growing. With an organisation that is to grow from 200 people to 400+ people over the next 4 years, your responsibilities will expand with it. As a result, this role offers you the opportunity to develop both your skill set and your career.

The money’s great. The base salary is competitive with a range of £39,978- £47,556 and an annual bonus (up to 30%), 30 days of annual leave (with public holidays on top) and one of the most generous pensions currently available in the UK (Civil Service Alpha Pension Scheme).

They’re not just about 9-5. Your life outside of work is important to RWM and so they welcome conversations about flexibility to help you meet both personal and professional commitments.

RWM’s vision as an organisation is to create a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment, collaborating with experts on multi-million-pound research programmes and radioactive waste producers to find ways to package it that are suitable for disposal in a Geological Disposal Facility.

Equal Opportunities:

We value the unique differences that each of our colleagues bring to work every day and are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, included and able to perform at their best. At RWM we are committed to creating a workplace that is diverse and inclusive. We value the diversity of our people and actively seek to have a workforce that represents the rich diversity of the communities we support. Currently we are underrepresented in some areas, and would particularly welcome applicants from Women, Black, Asian and Ethnic Minorities, LGBTQ+ and candidates who have a disability.

Disability Confident:

In promoting equal opportunities, RWM welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We select people according to their abilities and our needs. As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet all of the essential criteria for the vacancy. In cases where we have a high volume of disabled candidates who meet all of the essential criteria, RWM will interview the best candidates from within that group.

I’ve been within recruitment for over a decade covering fast paced contract recruitment, project recruitment and account management, within large scale business and niche consultancy environments, all within the nuclear industry. I am passionate about the point where company meets individual to ensure the best fit professionally, personally and culturally, and providing an excellent customer service sits at the core of everything I do and strive to deliver.
