Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) brings together into one organisation the long-established expertise of site operator Low Level Waste Repository Limited, Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) developer Radioactive Waste Management Limited and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group’s Integrated Waste Management Programme. This creates an organisation focused on the management of the UK’s nuclear waste, safely and securely for generations to come.
NWS’ vision as an organisation is to create a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment. NWS will maintain its current commitments to the Low-Level Waste Repository and to the GDF programme and the communities involved with both. Nuclear Waste Services will build on work delivered over many decades, while adding more essential services for customers in the nuclear energy, defence, industrial, medical, and research sectors.
