Working in support of our client Longenecker & Associates, Thomas Thor USA is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Team Lead for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This is a position to be based in Los Alamos, New Mexico.


Role description

Longenecker & Associates (L&) seeks a Quality Assurance Team Lead to support L&A’s QA & Transformation (QA&T) Program under N3B LLCC. The Quality Assurance Team Lead will provide day to day direction to QA Engineer and Specialist overseeing and supporting project field activities.   • Works closely with N3B Mission Assurance Director to develop and implement strategies, priorities and plans; proactively identifies and elevates topics of concern
  • Manages the NB3 Field QA oversight and support team to enable and achieve N3B mission objectives, including employee performance evaluations.
  • Perform Employee Performance Reviews and support their development
  • Ensures staff are properly trained and qualified to execute responsibilities
  • Effectively utilizes staff resources to achieve QA&T and broader N3BobjectivesProvides QA Program expertise to achieve full implementation of the N3B QA program and ensure effective implementation.
  • Able to coordinate and lead a cross-organizational team and assure accomplishment of team objectives
  • Fosters a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment
  • Leads subordinate staff to perform at exceptional levels in accordance with L&A Corporate Values Program

Essential skills

We are currently recruiting applicants that are legally entitled to work in the United States of America.

Knowledge and experience of quality assurance regulatory/contractual/technical documents (i.e., Department of Energy [DOE] orders, DOE Order 414.1, 10CFR830, NQA-1, contractual requirements relevant to quality assurance activities). Knowledge and experience with the interrelation of these requirements documents.

Broad expertise and knowledge of environmental remediation and waste management projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline with 10 years experience in quality assurance or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of Degree. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must meet the eligibility requirements for a DOE Access Authorization (DOE Q Clearance), if necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a diverse staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact constructively with all levels of N3B management, subject matter experts and external agencies.
  • Proven strong analytical skills to perform assessments and identify and evaluate issues and risks that could impede N3B from meeting LLCC objectives and requirements.
  • Ability to uses independent judgment for determining course of action
  • Skill and ability to independently develop and administer schedules and assessment requirements, and to integrate them into systems.Lead auditor certified or ability to obtain Lead auditor certification
  • Demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of personnel.
  • Expert-level oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and lead a cross-organizational team and assure accomplishment of team objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in determining the appropriate course of action in a dynamic atmosphere of changing priorities experience and ability to ensure quality assurance requirements are met during all phases of operations including facilities, equipment, waste and environmental management.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Demonstrated expert-level exceptional skill in the preparation and presentation of quality assurance reports
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and revising procedures and plans
  • Demonstrated experience related to procurement quality activities such as review of procurement documentation and procurement specification, receipt acceptance, supplier evaluations, monitoring supplier performance, and maintaining evaluated supplier list.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, analyzing, and reporting Quality Assurance Metrics.
