Maintenance Instructor

Location: Onsite – Diablo Canyon, Avila Beach, CA
Contract Length: 12 months with potential extension
Employment Type: W-2 with full benefits (health, dental, vision, life, 401k, PTO, holidays)

Thomas Thor is seeking an experienced Maintenance Instructor to support training and program development. This role is instrumental in delivering On-the-Job Training (OJT), evaluating technician performance, and maintaining compliance through the Vision™ software database. The ideal candidate will bring both field experience and a strong understanding of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) model.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and oversee On-the-Job Training (OJT) and lab evaluations for mechanical maintenance technicians

  • Conduct in-field observations and provide structured feedback to support technician development

  • Participate in Academic Review Boards, job performance analysis, and training-related committees

  • Analyze student performance and exam results to identify learning gaps and apply remediation strategies

  • Ensure proper program configuration control using Vision™ software

  • Resolve programmatic gaps based on student feedback and management input

  • Communicate program performance, student behavior, and training challenges in a timely and effective manner


Required Experience:

  • 10+ years in a mechanical maintenance technician or supervisory role within a line organization


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years delivering knowledge/skills-based training in an accredited technical program

  • Experience executing all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) / ADDIE process

  • Background in technical fundamentals and maintenance training

  • Proven experience designing and governing accredited training programs

  • Familiarity with Vision™ software for program management and control

  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong communication, analytical, and mentorship skills
