We’re seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of heat exchangers and steam generators for a revolutionary small modular reactor. What this role offers:
Location: Rockville, MD (530 Gaither Road)
Full-Time, Onsite, 12-Month Contract
Work Site Expectations: 4 days onsite per week
Salary Range: $120/hr

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers in the design and development of steam generators and heat exchangers for advanced nuclear applications.
- Manage resource allocation, technical direction, and execution of design projects from concept to production.
- Oversee engineering work for nuclear reactor components with a focus on manufacturability and performance.
- Provide mentorship and career development for junior engineers.
- Guide application of ASME codes, thermal-hydraulic analysis, and structural evaluation.
- Lead sprint cycles and resolve cross-functional technical challenges.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and suppliers to deliver quality design outputs.
- Establish and implement design principles and best practices.
- Maintain compliance with design control procedures and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience (graduate degrees may count for up to 2 years).
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: mechanical/fluid system design, hardware testing oversight, CAD/PLM tools (UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill).
- 8+ years of mechanical design experience, with 4+ years specifically in heat exchanger or steam generator design preferred.
- Experience applying ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Background in material selection for high-temp/pressure, structural analysis, and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, and DFM.
- PE license strongly preferred.
