Mechanical Engineer

For one of our clients in Brussels, we are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. This is a long-term contract opportunity to work with a leading engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support utilities in identifying obsolete components or those requiring additional qualifications

• Manage communication with suppliers to assess alternative solutions

• Evaluate options for re-stocking and sourcing replacement equipment

• Research substitute products for obsolete equipment

• Validate design changes between original and updated equipment, ensuring nuclear safety compliance

• Draft specifications and technical requisition files for nuclear safety-related equipment purchases

• Oversee factory acceptance tests and review manufacturer documentation

• Coordinate with experts from suppliers, the client, and regulatory authorities

• Manage the full qualification process in line with nuclear safety standards

• Draft qualification programs and justifications based on current regulations

• Select and evaluate test laboratories for ageing, seismic, irradiation, and accident-condition testing

• Place orders and monitor contract execution

• Supervise qualification testing and analyze results

• Draft and review qualification reports, synthesis notes, and maintenance sheets

• Present and defend qualification results to the client and nuclear safety authorities

• Potentially follow up on the on-site installation of qualified equipment

Required Skills and Experience:

• Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

• Experience: Experience working in an engineering office.

• Additional Skills: Knowledge of industrial equipment qualification and certification processes is a strong plus.

• Languages: English and French
