Senior Fuel Fabrication Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Fuel Fabrication Engineer to join the fuel fabrication supply team supporting small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) fuel development. In this role, you will lead and contribute to fuel fabrication process development, provide technical oversight, and ensure alignment between key project partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure fuel meets technical and project objectives.

• Provide technical guidance, planning, and oversight for Type 1 fuel fabrication.

• Prepare and review technical documentation for process development and fuel supply planning.

• Coordinate with external partners and support alignment on facility design, licensing, and fabrication strategies.

• Travel as needed to the client’s laboratory and partner locations.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (required).

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in nuclear fuel fabrication.

• Strongly preferred: experience with nuclear fuel injection casting and novel fabrication techniques.

• Familiarity with analysis tools (SEM, ICP-MS, profilometry).

• Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.

• Experience working with ASME NQA-1 and NRC methodologies preferred.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams.

This is a contract role offering the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking nuclear fuel development in a highly technical, mission-driven environment. Title and level will be determined based on qualifications.
