Senior Fuel Handling Systems Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Fuel Handling System Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of advanced nuclear projects. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in complex system design, fuel handling equipment, and multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design nuclear fuel handling systems and subsystems from requirements development through final design.
• Coordinate engineering analyses including thermal, structural, seismic, and fluid systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, ASTM, IEEE, and NFPA.
• Develop and review engineering documentation, including P&IDs, system specifications, design reports, and interface documents.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to define system requirements and performance criteria.
• Support supplier management, technical reviews, and equipment qualification activities.
• Contribute to testing, design reviews, licensing support, and overall project delivery.
• Ensure design activities are completed in line with project schedules and quality requirements.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in mechanical systems design within highly regulated industries.
• Proven experience with complex mechanical equipment and fuel handling systems.
• Background in nuclear, energy, or other high-performance engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of ASME Section III and engineering design standards.
• Experience working within quality frameworks such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead design activities, solve complex engineering challenges, and work across multiple disciplines.
