This is a rare opportunity to serve as a lead Human Factors engineer on a first-of-kind advanced reactor – shaping how operators will interact with a nuclear plant that doesn’t yet exist.

What This Role Offers:

Location: Remote

Full-Time | Remote | Contract – 12 months, high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs

Schedule: M-F

Salary Range: $56 – $95/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate Human Factors Engineering into digital I&C system design and Human-System Interface (HSI) development.

  • Conduct and oversee task analyses for displays and controls; develop monitoring, control, and protection function strategies.

  • Lead design of I&C systems and sub-system functional requirements through final design.

  • Develop and maintain User Interface Specifications (UIS) and data connection mappings across panels and VDUs.

  • Validate HSI alignment with simulator, and plant operating, abnormal, surveillance, and emergency procedures.

  • Work with PRA/HRA engineers to develop scenarios for Human Reliability Analysis involving digital HSIs.

  • Support planning and execution of HFE V&V and Integrated System Validation (ISV).

  • Interface with licensing activities and support Safety Analysis Report submittals.

Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering or equivalent; or 8+ years in Operations/Controls, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.

  • 5+ years of I&C engineering experience in complex processes or nuclear systems, including digital control/monitoring systems and HSI design.

  • At least 3 years applying HF principles to human-computer interfaces in control room or comparable process control environments.

  • Familiarity with NUREG-0711, NUREG-0700, MIL-STD-1472, IEEE 845/1289/2411, ANSI/ANS-3.1, and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B.

  • Experience producing high-quality technical documentation including requirements, design descriptions, analysis reports, and test plans.

  • Familiarity with industrial process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs desired.

  • Experience with nuclear plant emergency/abnormal operating procedures and human factors reviews highly desirable.
