What This Role Offers

Location: Bellevue, WA

Remote, Full-Time, 12-month contract – high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Salary Range: $52-$85/hour

Responsibilities

  • Create formal documentation of nuclear methods software requirements, design, and testing to support reactor licensing

  • Update, improve, or create software to satisfy licensing requirements through the V&V process

  • Incorporate third-party simulation tools into the design software ecosystem

  • Design and execute sensitivity studies on modeling assumptions (meshing, physics coupling, cross sections, kinetics)

  • Train and support reactor designers in use of the design software suite

  • Build and apply methods to assess uncertainty propagation and safety margin impacts

  • Improve the team’s ability to build models and draw conclusions through tooling, visualization, and reporting

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Nuclear Engineering with 5-20 years of experience (or equivalent M.S./Ph.D. experience bands)

  • Fast reactor physics and design intuition

  • Experience with nuclear design/analysis methodologies: criticality, flux/power distributions, fuel management, reactivity coefficients, shielding, kinetics

  • Strong “under-the-hood” knowledge of deterministic and stochastic particle transport, depletion, and perturbation theory

  • Experience with reactor physics codes such as DIF3D, MC2, PARTISN, MCNP, Serpent, SCALE, PARCS, CASMO, or DRAGON preferred

  • Strong programming skills required; Python, C++, or Fortran a bonus

  • Strong technical documentation skills required
