Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Design the core components of a next-generation nuclear reactor from the ground up. We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer ready to own equipment design decisions with real technical latitude.

What This Role Offers

Location: Bellevue, WA REMOTE

Hybrid, Full-Time, 12-month contract – high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Salary Range: $52-$85/hour

Responsibilities

• Produce equipment and component design solutions, including drawings, models, and specifications

• Plan design activities and manage execution against established plans

• Propose and develop tests to validate functional and performance design requirements

• Perform scoping analysis and trade studies for design options

• Interface with cross-functional teams on design and analysis activities

• Perform engineering reviews of team members’ design products

• Provide direction and mentoring to engineers and subcontractors

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, plus 5+ years of equipment/component design experience

• Experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred

• Experience with design of experiments and product testing

• Experience in finite element stress analysis and first-principles calculations

• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

• ASME BPVC Section III Division 5 familiarity, ANSYS experience, and nuclear core assembly design experience all a plus
