Principal Engineer – Plant Design Integration

Building a next-generation nuclear reactor from the ground up takes engineers who can see across every discipline at once. If you want to shape how design, licensing, analysis, and testing come together into one coherent plant architecture, this role puts you at the center of it.

Full-Time, Remote, Contract – 12 months, high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs

Salary Range: $69-$100

Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and integrate plant-level requirements, programmatic, and specification documents with plant design activities

• Research, develop, and implement design bases and strategies supporting plant design and licensing, including risk-informed and performance-based approaches

• Interface with design disciplines to allocate plant requirements and develop requirement verification plans

• Review licensing and code requirements for alignment with project design and licensing strategy

• Support plant design cost studies, engineering decisions, and interdisciplinary reviews from a plant-architecture perspective

• Review, coordinate, and oversee plant integrated, safety, and risk analyses for impact to plant functional/performance requirements

• Lead design integration reviews and resolution of cross-functional technical issues

• Support integration of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittals under the Licensing Modernization Project

• Keep project and engineering management informed of major emerging technical issues and risks

Qualifications:

• BS in a relevant engineering discipline (nuclear, structural, chemical, mechanical, or electrical) or Senior Reactor Operator license/equivalent; 10+ years of relevant nuclear facility design or operations experience

• Experience in one or more of: plant/systems engineering, design engineering, fire protection, operations, reactor engineering

• Working understanding of NRC regulations and associated guidance; prior NRC interaction desirable

• Demonstrated leadership driving cross-functional design, licensing, safety analysis, and PRA collaboration

• Ability to work independently across geographically distributed teams and multiple interfacing organizations (Licensing, Operations, Procurement, Construction, Document Control)

• Comfortable operating in a conceptual design / first-of-a-kind environment

• Experience with quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
