Construction Planner

We are looking for an experienced Construction Planner to support the delivery of one of the UK’s largest and most complex projects at Hinkley Point C (HPC).

Working as part of the PMO Planning function and closely with the Area Management and Construction teams, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed short-term construction schedules covering activities across multiple Tier 1 contractors.

A major focus of the position will be the integration and coordination of construction activities within the 16-week look-ahead period, identifying interfaces and constraints between contractors and helping construction teams establish safe, achievable and optimised sequences of work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with experience in large-scale construction, engineering or infrastructure projects who enjoys working directly with construction teams in a highly complex and regulated project environment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop, integrate, manage and maintain detailed construction schedules for installation, testing and commissioning activities within the MEH phase.
• Produce and maintain Level 5 short-term construction schedules, integrating activities and interfaces across multiple Tier 1 contractors.
• Support the 16-week look-ahead planning process, ensuring upcoming works are appropriately sequenced, coordinated and unconstrained.
• Work closely with construction teams and contractors to identify interfaces, clashes, constraints and dependencies between planned activities.
• Conduct integrated schedule reviews and help establish optimised construction sequences across different work packages and contractors.
• Integrate construction activities with the wider HPC programme and Integrated Works Schedule.
• Identify planning scope, major constraints, contractual requirements, quantities and other factors that could affect programme delivery.
• Maintain and update schedule information within relevant planning and production control systems.
• Monitor site progress and provide clear reporting on planned versus actual performance, schedule adherence and forecast position.
• Develop resource, material and quantity profiles from the Level 5 schedule to support construction readiness, including MEH material and equipment requirements.
• Communicate planned resource requirements, durations, quantities and construction priorities to construction leads and other key stakeholders.
• Support the development and use of 4D planning, including animated construction sequences, to improve coordination and communicate planned activities.
• Work with construction teams and the PMO to develop effective visual management and planning tools for use in the field.
• Promote safe and effective construction planning, ensuring both conventional and nuclear safety considerations are incorporated into planning activities.
• Capture and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement and future project execution.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Strong experience in construction planning and scheduling on large-scale, complex engineering, infrastructure, energy or construction projects.
• Demonstrable experience integrating multiple construction activities within short-term planning horizons, including detailed look-ahead schedules.
• Good understanding of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) activities, construction sequencing, interfaces, dependencies and constraints.
• Experience managing and monitoring construction programmes, including progress, forecasting and planned versus actual performance.
• Experience working with multiple contractors and stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve complex construction interfaces.
• Professional fluency in English; French would be an advantage.
